A video from Donald Trump’s rally in New Jersey on Saturday shows what appears to be “thousands” of attendees leaving while he was still speaking. Despite claims from Trump and his allies that over 100,000 people attended the rally in Wildwood, some on social media have questioned these numbers. Reporters at the event shared videos showing people exiting during Trump’s address.
Walter Masterson posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Here is 35 unedited minutes showing thousands of MAGA walking out on Trump while he’s still talking.”
Donald Trump, who is currently facing charges in four criminal cases as he campaigns to reclaim the White House, spoke at a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, on Saturday. He took the stage at about 6:20 p.m. and delivered a speech that lasted roughly 90 minutes.
A video filmed by Walter Masterson, shared on X (formerly Twitter), shows what appears to be “thousands” of attendees leaving the rally while Trump was still speaking. At one point, just a few minutes into Masterson’s 35-minute unedited video, a rally attendee can be seen telling him that the time is 6:48 p.m., indicating that many people were leaving before Trump was even halfway through his speech. This departure occurred despite claims from Trump and his allies that more than 100,000 people attended the rally, a figure that has been questioned on social media and by reporters at the event.
While the exact number of attendees at Donald Trump’s rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, remains unclear, Wildwood’s Republican mayor, Ernie Troiano Jr., indicated that the beach could accommodate only about 20,000 people and that approximately that many tickets had been requested for the event.
Aliya Schneider, a reporter with The Philadelphia Inquirer, posted videos showing some attendees leaving the rally while Trump was still speaking. She noted, “Trump is still speaking, but the crowd has been thinning. People have been walking out back to the boardwalk.” In another post, Schneider wrote, “The back section of the crowd is noticeably smaller as people continue to leave while Trump is still speaking.”
Similarly, USA Today reporter Zac Anderson posted a video demonstrating that much of the crowd had already left while Trump was still delivering his remarks. Anderson noted, “Trump is still speaking in Wildwood but much of the crowd has left. It’s cold and he’s been speaking 90 minutes. This whole area was full of people when Trump started.”
Despite these observations, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung maintained that “over 100,000 patriots” had attended the rally, a claim that has been met with skepticism on social media and by reporters on the ground.
