The Love Is Blind Season 7 finale featured several couples making their way down the aisle—though one pair decided to call it quits for good.
Ramses Prashad and Marissa George ended their engagement in episode 12, which aired on Wednesday, October 23. Once among the show’s happiest pairs, their relationship hit a major roadblock back in Washington D.C. when they clashed over contraception—whether Marissa should take birth control or Ramses should use condoms. Despite these disagreements, they appeared to be heading for marriage, even shopping for wedding attire in the second-to-last episode. However, the finale began with Ramses admitting to Marissa that he couldn’t proceed with the wedding, leaving her devastated.
“I understand that falling in love and getting your heart broken is a risk,” Marissa said, trying to process Ramses’ change of heart. Ramses, who had been married once before, explained that a recent conversation with his family had brought up unresolved emotions from his previous marriage. “I just learned that my ex was hurting much more than I realized after the divorce,” he admitted. “And I’m just scared that something may happen where I’d end up hurting you.”
Marissa acknowledged that their relationship involved “a lot of people” and emotions, but insisted that the decision to get married was ultimately about the two of them. Ramses, however, wasn’t convinced. “After being married and seeing other marriages, I just don’t think love alone is enough,” he said, noting that while they had a strong connection, there were practical challenges they might not be able to overcome. “Living together and navigating daily life is hugely important,” he added. “Those are the things that could wear us down over time.”
Marissa disagreed that love was their only asset, pointing out that they had managed to work through many difficulties since getting engaged. “We talked about you needing your space, and I love you enough to give you what you need,” she said. “Marriage is a commitment, a promise to face life’s challenges together. I truly believe we’d be great as a team.”
Despite Marissa’s attempts to reassure him, Ramses remained hesitant. He admitted that getting married would mean following his “feelings” instead of his “logic,” a mistake he didn’t want to repeat. “There might have been things I was overlooking because they seemed minor, but they do matter,” he said. Marissa countered that he was offering “nothing tangible to work with.”
Ramses tried to clarify, explaining, “It’s about our energies coexisting in the same space. It was wonderful in Cabo, but back in the real world, with work and daily stress, I felt overwhelmed. I didn’t have time for myself.” Marissa acknowledged that she had heard similar concerns before but didn’t see their different lifestyles as a problem. Instead, she viewed it as an opportunity for growth, admitting that she could learn to slow down and relax.
She then questioned why Ramses couldn’t share her vision of their future, suggesting that he should never have entered the experiment if he needed to live with someone for a long time before marrying. “For the first time, I’ve been 100 percent myself. I just want someone to be sure about me,” she said tearfully. “I just want someone to choose me.”
As she broke down in tears, Marissa asked Ramses if he was certain about ending their relationship, insisting that calling it off was a “big mistake.” “This is not right. This is the worst heartbreak I’ve ever experienced,” she said, sobbing, before calling her mother to break the news. “I feel like I’m dying,” she confessed. “Two days ago, he was excited to get married. We picked our first dance song, and he got emotional about it. How could it all just end?”
The episode closed with Marissa tearfully confiding in her mom, “Mom, it hurts. It hurts so bad,” as Ramses sat in another room, head in his hands, while Marissa’s engagement ring fell to the floor—marking a dramatic end to their turbulent relationship.
