Elon Musk: Voting for Trump the ‘Only Way’ to ‘Save’ Democracy—Sounds Like Apartheid to Me

Elon Musk sparked controversy with his latest statement, claiming that re-electing Donald Trump in 2024 is the “only way” to preserve democracy in the U.S. “Very few Americans realize that, if Trump is NOT elected, this will be the last election,” Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter). The remarks raised eyebrows, with critics drawing comparisons between Musk’s rhetoric and his upbringing in apartheid-era South Africa.

Some have pointed out that Musk’s call for Trump to “save” democracy feels reminiscent of the power dynamics seen during apartheid, where the minority ruled at the expense of democratic principles for all. The tech mogul’s comments have once again reignited debate about his political allegiances and the implications of his rhetoric in the current political climate.

Musk laid out a theory alleging that Democrats are speeding up the process for immigrants who entered the U.S. illegally to gain citizenship and, eventually, voter status. According to Musk, these new voters would overwhelmingly support Democratic candidates, giving them a permanent electoral advantage.

“Let me explain: if even 1 in 20 illegals become citizens per year, something that the Democrats are expediting as fast as humanly possible, that would be about 2 million new legal voters in 4 years,” Musk argued. “The voting margin in the swing states is often less than 20 thousand votes. That means if the ‘Democratic’ Party succeeds, there will be no more swing states!!”

Musk, who has openly endorsed Trump, also accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of secretly flying asylum-seekers into swing states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Arizona to skew future elections.

Immigration is a central focus in the 2024 campaign, with Trump amplifying his criticism of Harris on the issue. Over the weekend, Trump called for her impeachment, claiming, “Kamala’s Illegal Migrants. It’s the biggest crime story of our time. She should resign or be IMPEACHED!” In a campaign rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, Trump escalated the rhetoric, stating, “Hundreds of people have been murdered because of her action at the border, and thousands more will follow in rapid succession.”

Trump’s latest attack came after Harris’s recent visit to the southern border. Harris has been critical of Trump’s approach to border security, arguing that while he talks tough, he failed to deliver real solutions during his time in office. In an August rally, she remarked, “Donald Trump doesn’t want to fix this problem. He talks a big game about a lot of things, but he does not walk the walk.”

The White House, Harris campaign, and Trump campaign have yet to respond to Musk’s comments.
