Dear White Women,
As the 2024 election approaches, I urge you to reflect on the choice before us and what it means for the future of our country, our rights, and our values. It’s time to recognize that Donald J. Trump is not the leader who will protect or advance the interests of women, families, or the nation. His track record demonstrates a pattern of behavior that disrespects women, undermines democratic principles, and endangers our society.
Consider this: if your husband cheated on you three times, would you still trust him? Donald Trump has done just that—betrayed trust again and again. He cheated on his first wife, Ivana, and later on Melania with a porn star and a Playboy model. His treatment of women goes far beyond infidelity; he has been accused of rape and sexual misconduct by multiple women, and a jury found him liable for sexual abuse in a civil case. These are not the actions of a man who respects women or values their well-being.
Yet, it goes deeper than his personal behavior. Trump’s policies and rhetoric reveal a disturbing disregard for the dignity and humanity of others:
- Immigration Hypocrisy and Dehumanization: Trump has repeatedly railed against immigrants, referring to migrants as “vermin” and implementing policies that tore families apart. Yet, his own family has benefitted from the immigration system. His wife Melania’s parents became U.S. citizens through chain migration, a process he openly criticized. This hypocrisy highlights a willingness to use fear-mongering and scapegoating for political gain, even when it involves attacking a system that benefited his own family.
- Erosion of Women’s Rights: Under Trump’s leadership, women’s reproductive freedoms were severely curtailed. His appointment of Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade marked a profound loss of bodily autonomy for millions of American women. The right to make decisions about our own bodies is fundamental, and Trump’s legacy includes actively working to take that freedom away.
- An Empty Platform: Trump’s presidency and current campaign have been marked by a troubling absence of coherent policies. Instead of addressing critical issues, he deflects to inflammatory rhetoric, often using misleading or outright false statements. When asked about policies, he pivots to fear-based narratives, such as Haitian migrants eating cats and dogs, Venezuelan gangs taking over houses, or immigrants killing Americans. This fear-mongering distracts from the real issues and offers no substantive solutions to the challenges we face.
- COVID-19 Mismanagement: His administration’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans, including thousands of women who were healthcare workers, caregivers, and essential employees. His downplaying of the virus, spread of misinformation, and lack of leadership in a time of crisis are unforgivable.
- Economic Failures and Recklessness: Trump often touts his business acumen, yet his history of bankruptcies and economic mismanagement tell a different story. His term saw erratic economic policies that brought the country to the brink of recession, much like the financial troubles his businesses have faced in the past. Can we afford to risk the nation’s economic stability on a man with such a dubious record?
- Inciting an Insurrection: On January 6, 2021, Trump became the first U.S. president to incite an insurrection against his own country. The violent attack on the Capitol was not only a direct assault on democracy but a betrayal of the oath to protect the United States. That day, Trump showed that he valued power over principle and was willing to stoke chaos and division for his own benefit.
- Dangerous Policy Agenda: His platform for 2024, which includes “Project 2025,” has drawn alarming comparisons to authoritarian regimes of the past. The project’s agenda is rooted in extreme policies that seek to consolidate power, undermine democratic institutions, and limit individual freedoms. The echoes of historical authoritarianism are unmistakable, and we must heed the warning signs.
As women, we deserve leaders who respect us, value our contributions, and protect our rights. We deserve a president who upholds the principles of democracy, equality, and justice. Donald Trump has shown time and again that he does not embody these values. His actions, both personal and political, reflect a disregard for the rule of law, an erosion of fundamental rights, and a dangerous flirtation with authoritarianism.
For the sake of our daughters, our families, and our country’s future, I urge you not to support Donald Trump. We must not let his history of deception, abuse, and betrayal be rewarded with another term in office. It’s time to choose a path that leads to healing, unity, and progress—not one that deepens our divisions and endangers our freedoms.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Citizen
